SCDOT Awards Contract to Repair Existing Highway 301 Bridge over Lake Marion

South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) recently awarded a construction contract to make safety repairs on the existing Highway 301 bridge over Lake Marion. The goal is to re-open the bridge to The Palmetto Trail foot traffic by the Summer of 2023. The state is also seeking a $161 million grant to upgrade and fund the adjacent bridge carrying I-95 Interstate highway traffic over the lake.

 

The restoration project includes removal and or replacement of damaged, loose, or missing railings, painting of all steel railing components, repair or expansion and construction joints, deck surface repairs, vegetation removal, pavement markings fencing and guardrail. Work is well underway and the current planned completion date is May 31, 2023

Located at the Clarendon County Industrial Park between Summerton and Manning, the newly constructed 50,000-square-foot commercial space will house the company’s proprietary growing system.
