The
Lake Marion Artisans
(LMAG) is holding a local Art Competition this year with judging
and exhibition of submitted works to be held in July 2019 at their
art gallery in downtown Summerton, S.C. Appropriately, the theme of
the Art Competition is ‘Lake Marion’. There are two
categories of works – (1) Paintings and (2) Photography. The winner
in each category will receive a certificate and a cash award of $250.
The
theme for the art competition is ‘Lake
Marion’. By this, we mean the submitted painting, sketch,
photograph… must relate to Lake Marion, S.C. This means it ought to
be a painting or picture must be about the lake – being on the
lake, around the lake, by the lake, fishing on the lake, boating,
piers, sunsets, wildlife around the lake, abstract, impressionistic…
If you plan on being in Summerton during June-July 2019, swing by the Lake Marion Artisans Gallery (LMAG) and check out the show. The following are photos of some of the works on display. You can also cast your vote for the ‘People’s Choice’ award for the best artwork.

Judging of the art competition submissions is now over. Here are the results:
ReplyDelete- Best Photograph was won by Mary Wilson. Both judges were in agreement.
- Best Painting was won by Sharon Phelps. The judges did not agree on the winner, so after consulting with the members at the gallery today, we brought in a third judge to break the impasse, selecting the winner from the paintings the two other judges had selected.
- The People's Choice Award will be picked on Friday when we will total up all the votes cast by artisans and customers over the past month.
The reception and award of winning prize/check to the artists will occur on July 12, 2019 at the Lake Marion Artisans (LMAG) art gallery in downtown Summerton. Congratulations to the winners.
The artworks will be on display in the art gallery throughout July, so if you are visiting Summerton, drop in and view the art on display in the gallery. The gallery is only open Thursday and Friday from 11am-3pm during the summer.
The votes cast by artisans and customers for the People's Choice Award were totaled up to day and Peter Groen won for his photo of a Goat Island Canal and view of Lake Marion. See you at the reception next week honoring the artists.
